Mission Statement
The current goal of Tikvat Am Yisrael, Inc. is to bring hope to the people of Israel through assistance with urgent and practical needs including: renovation of bomb shelters, encouraging IDF soldiers and assisting the forgotten victims of terror attacks.
"Sabra" (צבר)is the nickname for a native-born Israeli. It was derived from the Hebrew word tzabar, the name of the "prickly pear" fruit growing from the local cactus. The reference is to a tenacious, thorny nature with a thick skin concealing a sweet interior.
Background
Rony Jordan, director of Tikvat Am Yisrael, is an Israeli and an American citizen. As a child of Holocaust survivors, Rony was raised in Israel and served in the Israeli Defense Force. He later traveled to the United States, where he married his wife Cynthia and worked as a general contractor for 20 years.
Since Tikvat Am Yisrael does not have a large overhead, all funds for these urgent needs are guaranteed to go directly to the field.
Tikvat Am Yisrael also works with other organizations who have a heart for Israel and her people. As a bridge, Tikvat Am Yisrael helps these organizations to enter into Israeli society, introducing them to real people with real needs.
